About the Holocaust Educational Trust

Since our establishment in 1988, the Holocaust Educational Trust has educated thousands of young people throughout the UK about the Holocaust and the important lessons to be learned for today. It is our mission to ensure the Holocaust is remembered by future generations and to achieve this every year we: educate thousands of young people across the UK; train and support hundreds of teachers; enable Holocaust survivors to share their personal testimonies; and work with Parliament and the media to help spread understanding of the Holocaust.

Outreach Team

Our Outreach Team work with individuals and groups (like schools, universities and Local Authorities) all across the UK, including many Ambassadors like you, to give as many people as possible the opportunity to hear the first-hand testimony of a survivor. Did you know?

Over 80,000 people a year take part in our Outreach Programme, having a unique opportunity to hear the testimony of a Holocaust survivor or a member of the Second Generation.

Education Team

Our Education Officers are responsible for the creation and delivery of the Trust’s educational programmes and resources. They also run a broad programme of teacher training for teachers across the UK, including walking tours and international visits. You will often hear from them at our Ambassador events!

Did you know?

We have worked with organisations like the BBC, the Football Association, the National Union of Teachers, and the USC Shoah Foundation to create resources.

Public Affairs Team

Our Public Affairs team manage the Trust’s online presence and media appearances, as well as navigating our work within politics and the government. They have coordinated Ambassadors to meet with ministers and local MPs and get involved with various campaigns, such as efforts to establish a UK Holocaust memorial and learning centre in Westminster.

Did you know?

In 2024, the team facilitated for two survivors and two Ambassadors to speak to the Duke of Cambridge (now Prince of Wales) to mark Holocaust Memorial Day.

Lessons from Auschwitz Project Team

Having completed one of the Trust’s Projects yourself, you’ll be very familiar with the work of our Lessons from Auschwitz Project Team! They take thousands of students each year to visit the site of the former Nazi concentration and death camp Auschwitz-Birkenau on the basis that ‘hearing is not like seeing’.

There are over 30,000 students that have completed one of our projects, making them members of the Ambassador community, just like you!

Fundraising Team

Our Fundraising Team ensures that the Trust has the funds to carry out the important work we do, including many events and projects on the Ambassador Programme. Whether it’s running the annual Appeal Dinner for hundreds of our supporters or the 2021 crowdfunding campaign (with almost 200 Ambassador Champions), or even giving advice to individuals who want to fundraise for the Trust, this team will be at the heart of it!

Did you know?

For the 2021 crowdfunding campaign, the team worked with celebrities like footballer Mason Mount and Made in Chelsea’s Sophie Hermann.
