Make a Display

STEP 1

Ask Yourself...

What impact do you want to create?

Why have you chosen this method to convey your message?

STEP 2

Be Organised, Think Logistics

Where will you place your display? Check if you need permission and obtain this.

If you want people to stop and view your display, consider your space, but remember you want as many people as possible to view this, so you need somewhere with lots of foot traffic!

To measure impact, can you record the number of visitors? Is there a way people can leave feedback or note what the display made them feel?

STEP 3

Plan the Content

Reflect on the age and level of knowledge of the audience and what content will be appropriate.

Consider what you learned on the Lessons from Auschwitz Project, which parts resonated with you and how this shaped your understanding of the Holocaust.

Ensure that the voices and experiences of those whose lives were affected are present. You could include extracts of testimony.

If you decide to use images, avoid use of graphic images which show victims who have been murdered, or visibly mistreated.

Step 4

Share your success!

Email ambassadors@het.org.uk to let us know how you got on and how many people you reached.

Share pictures of your display on social media – make sure to tag us!

Ambassador Tip

“Have something that people can engage with – whether it’s questions printed alongside the photos, someone chatting with them, or even just some paper that people can write their thoughts on to stick on a board or in a box.”
