STEP 1

Think of 'why?'

Be clear on your aims and what you want participants to gain from taking part.

For you, why is a film screening a good way to encourage others to develop their knowledge or begin learning about the Holocaust?

If there are specific themes you would like participants to think about, can you bring these out during some discussion questions after the screening?

STEP 2

Choosing a film

Remember to think about the participants. Consider their existing knowledge of the Holocaust, age and if this film is a good starting point for the group.

Ensure the film is accessible and, where possible, free of charge to watch. Make sure you have all relevant permissions.

Come up with questions that the group can discuss, don’t risk silence! Perhaps allow members to submit their own questions.

STEP 3

Find a location

You may choose to conduct this event online or in-person, both would work well.

Online, ensure you have a video conferencing platform and where you can only invite attendees and only share the entry password with those you know.

In-person, ensure you find a location in time and have all relevant permissions and safety measures in place. Perhaps a room within your university or workplace could be used? Again, only share the location with participants.
